August 2024 Butter Babe: Dina Tillman
This year’s upcoming theme for the Butter Babe Brunch is that “She is a Do-er, and She is Generous!” When thinking of those attributes, one of the first names that came to mind was Dina Tillman. She is a woman who goes after life, believes in breakthrough, holds nothing back and brings her best! In her presence, you are strengthened on your own journey! Take a moment to connect with her through these questions and hear her heart!
What is a secret ambition of yours?
A secret ambition of mine is to be a travel agent. I love to travel and the older I get the more appreciative I am of the memories that are made while traveling. I would love to be able to help others make those special memories with their family and friends.
What inspires you?
My daughter, Katelyn, inspires me every day. Her fight to get through each day no matter what obstacles she faces inspires me to face each challenge with a positive attitude. She has taught me to be thankful for everything I ‘get’ to do: laundry, grocery shopping, go to work. It is only when you are not able to do those every day mundane tasks that you truly appreciate them.
Who are your heroes and why?
My heroes are the doctors and staff members that took care of my daughter and family during the times she was the sickest. Through the darkest days and nights, they were caring and supportive. From bringing us snacks to just offering a hug when they knew we need it, they were more than just doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapists. We are still in contact with many of these caretakers that we now call friends.
How would you describe your perfect day?
My perfect day would start with brunch with my family, then shopping in Downtown Ocean Springs, and end relaxing in the pool.
What was the last thing you read?
I recently reread It Ends with Us. I am so excited about the movie but wanted to reread the book before seeing the movie.
What is your most prized possession and why?
My children’s scrapbooks are my most prized possessions. When they were younger, I would scrapbook all their activities, trips, first days of schools, birthday parties, ect. I enjoy looking back at all the memories we made when they were younger.
What causes are you passionate about? Why?
A cause I am very passionate about is childhood cancer awareness. As the mother of a childhood cancer survivor, I feel it is very important to raise awareness about the lack of new treatments and the long-term side effects of the treatments available to children. My daughter, while very blessed to have survived bone cancer, lives daily with the long-term side effects of the treatments she received for her cancer.
